If you are thinking about bringing home a Labrador Retriever, then you should go through a few facts that we have compiled here. These facts will strengthen your resolve of being a proud owner of this dog breed.
Labradors Retrievers are happy-go-lucky dogs that enjoy human company. It is considered the most popular dog breed in many parts of the world, including the United States. That being said, these dogs make good family dogs, and are equally good, better at times―police and rescue dogs.

Labrador Retriever

Male Labradors are about 22 to 24-inches tall, while females are slightly smaller―about 21 to 23 inches. Though the average weight for male Labs is 60 to 75 lbs, the chances of coming across a 100-lb male cannot be ruled out. Even females are quite heavy at 55 to 70 pounds.
These dogs have long been used for hunting, retrieving, tracking, search and rescue operations, as well as sledding. As they are very loyal, intelligent, and reliable, they are also trained to guide people who are visually impaired and disabled. Their reliability makes them excellent watchdogs as well.
If they are considered good family dogs today, it is largely because of the fact that they are even-tempered and playful, and love being around children.
That being said, they do need constant companionship; lack of which sends them on a destructive spree. So, you need to make sure you spend some time with the dog every day and help him drain his robust energy.
Additionally, you should avoid overfeeding this dog breed as they are prone to obesity. Your Labrador won't mind staying in an apartment, as long as it is given ample space to exercise and taken out for regular walks.
