Like humans, even canines won't mind delicious treats once in a while! Similar to other dog food, these treats are specifically made for dogs and thus, include all the necessary nutrients required for their health. They are usually sugar coated to make them tasty for the dog's taste buds, so as to ensure that he keeps coming back for more.
They are made in the form of bars or biscuits, which are usually bone shaped, as dogs love feasting on yummy bones! Other than obedience training, these treats are also used to show love and appreciation for the pet.

Homemade Dog Treats

The treats can be made in various shapes and sizes, and by using healthy ingredients, their quality too can be controlled by you. Often, it so happens that there are large quantities of harmful and allergic ingredients in commercial treats.
If you are preparing them at home, you know what ingredients your dog is fond of and, what ingredients are not good for your dog's health. Ingredients like artificial sweeteners, raisins, flavoring agents, and colors should be minimally used in dog food. Instead, you can use meat, organic flour, and sugar-free sweeteners to make these homemade treats!

Cinnamon and Apple Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 large apple
  • 1½ cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup of water
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

You will have to cut the apple and grind it in a blender to prepare a paste. Then take this paste in a large mixing bowl, add some water, cinnamon, honey, and oatmeal to it, and mix it properly with a wooden spoon. Add organic wheat flour to this paste to make it into a dough.
You can first mix it with a spoon and then, when it is thick enough, knead it with your fingers, as the ingredients have to blend together. Roll out the dough to make a flat surface and with a cookie cutter cut the desired shapes.
