Cuteness is one of the parameters that most people look for in a pet dog. While it is not wise to choose a puppy only for its looks, this fact is often overlooked. It is not necessary for each and every puppy to retain the looks, as it grows. However, you can go for such a dog, if it is best-suited for your family.
Before choosing a cute dog as a pet, you must have a basic understanding about the various aspects of specific breeds, like characteristics, requirements, health problems, lifespan, and compatibility with humans as well as other pets. Here is some information about some of the popular and cute dog breeds.
Golden Retriever
One of the most popular dog breeds, Golden Retrievers are attractive as well as loyal. They can grow to a maximum height of around two feet, and a body weight of up to 80 pounds.
These dogs are very easy to train and are playful with kids. Golden Retrievers are also good watchdogs. These energetic dogs need regular exercise, as they are prone to obesity. Coat shedding can be a problem with these dogs, especially, during the shedding season. So they require regular grooming too.
Golden Retrievers are prone to frequent ear infections. Their cuteness quotient is high and you can surely bring them home.
Maltese Dogs
Maltese dogs are small, cute, playful and belong to the ‘toy group’ breed of dogs. They can utmost grow up to 7-10 inches in height and can weigh maximum up to 4.5 kgs (especially fully grown adult dogs).
These dogs do not have an undercoat. Their coat is long, silky and pure white in color. They seem to move more swiftly than their size.
If not exposed to sunlight for a long time, their nose can turn to pink or light brown color, this is often known as ‘winter nose’.

Eventually with exposure to sunlight, their nose can turn to black color again. Special care needs to be taken to keep their coat clean. As Maltese dogs shed less, they can be a good choice for people who are allergic to dogs.
Beagle
This medium-sized dog breed is very popular for its looks. The Beagle is an ideal family dog, provides, you have enough space for its outdoor activities. They are very energetic, loving, gentle in nature, and physically strong.
However, proper training should be provided, to prevent them from chewing anything and everything that comes their way. They have short coats, and shedding is not a problem with beagles.
However, average shedding may be expected. These dogs too are very active and require lots of exercise, like daily brisk walking. Obesity can be a problem in Beagles too, and this can lead to other health problems, especially those of the heart and the joints.
Yorkies are undoubtedly cute, and are considered one of the attractive dog breeds in the world. They are very popular for their small size, and the coat that hangs to the ground, on either side of their body.
Yorkshire Terrier
This dog has lots of hair on its head, that is often found tied up. They are loving and energetic in nature. Yorkshire Terriers are much valued for their intelligence, and are good as watchdogs. If you have space constraints, then Yorkies are ideal pets.
However, they have to be handled properly, especially, if you have kids in your house. These dogs require regular grooming, as they have long hair; but, Yorkies are not prone to shedding. You must also make sure to clean their teeth regularly, so that they remain as they naturally are - cute.

Pugs

These dogs are small-sized, with a wrinkly face, expressive eyes, and a curly tail. They are ideal as family dogs, as pugs are gentle, loving, and affectionate, with a very happy disposition.
Pugs are said to be one of the oldest dog breeds, and are highly intelligent and playful. These dogs are very sensitive; so, be gentle to them. They can also be trained easily, but care is required, as they are prone to many health problems and obesity.
Pugs are also prone to allergies, breathing problems, swelling of cornea, and pug dog encephalitis. They are also vulnerable to cold caused by extreme weather conditions.
There are many other cute dog breeds, like Shiba Inu, poodle, collies, Australian Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, Pekingese, Chihuahua, Shar Pei, Dalmatian, Siberian Husky, Chow Chow, and Pomeranian. However, do not fall for just their looks. You must understand more about their temperament, requirements, other aspects, along with the good looks.
